Saint Louis Weather Club (STLWC) – Entity Status Policy
Effective Date: May 1, 2025
Governing Jurisdiction: State of Missouri, United States
Organization: Saint Louis Weather Club, a Missouri-based unincorporated association (“STLWC,” “we,” “our,” or “us”)

The Saint Louis Weather Club (“STLWC”) is an informal, community-driven group founded by individuals who share a collective passion for meteorology, weather observation, and public weather awareness. STLWC does not operate as a for-profit business, nonprofit organization, or any other formal entity recognized under Missouri state law or federal law. We are not incorporated, registered, or governed by the Missouri Revised Statutes (including Chapter 355, The Missouri Nonprofit Corporation Act), nor are we recognized as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or any similar provisions. STLWC has not filed for any corporate or nonprofit registration at the state or federal level, nor do we maintain a formal legal structure such as a corporation, association, or trust.

While STLWC may engage in educational, outreach, and informational activities, these efforts are carried out by volunteers with no intent to generate profit or personal gain. STLWC’s purpose is solely to foster a community of weather enthusiasts and to promote the sharing of knowledge and observations related to meteorological phenomena. We do not solicit, accept, or distribute donations or funds for commercial or charitable purposes, and we do not provide any services for a fee. All participation in STLWC activities is voluntary, and members are not required to pay dues, fees, or contributions to be involved.

STLWC operates solely for the enjoyment and mutual benefit of those who choose to participate in our activities. We do not hold any assets, accumulate revenue, or distribute earnings to any individuals or participants. Any activities undertaken by STLWC—such as meetings, public events, or online discussions—are carried out in a non-commercial and non-profit manner. While we may engage in projects or create educational materials, these are purely for informational purposes and do not serve to generate income or provide any financial return.

We expressly clarify that STLWC is not a registered business or nonprofit organization under any state or federal laws. We do not engage in any activities that would require us to register as a nonprofit entity with the Missouri Secretary of State or the Internal Revenue Service. As such, STLWC is not subject to the same regulations, governance structures, or tax responsibilities that apply to formally recognized businesses or nonprofit organizations. This policy is intended to affirm our status as a non-business, non-profit group, and to clarify that STLWC is not involved in any for-profit activities.

This policy is provided for informational purposes to ensure transparency regarding the nature of STLWC. It is important for participants, partners, and the public to understand that STLWC’s activities are solely community-focused and do not involve profit generation, legal registration, or formal business operations.
